2003 Lord of The Rings Pinball Machine by Stern
Described by pinball fans the world over as âa real gemâ and âone of the finest machines ever createdâ, Lord of The Rings is undoubtedly in a league of its own, and a worthy tribute to the legendary tale which inspired it.
Over the years weâve been fortunate enough to have gathered together a select few engineers whose enthusiasm for pinball machines and vast experience ensures that The Games Room Companyâs restorations are quite simply the best in the world. Our technicians love breathing new life into old circuitry and want to see as many of these classic pinballs preserved for future generations as possible.
Instead of the perfunctory checklists which pass for an inspection at other dealers we have an unflinching determination to get to grips with the detail. This usually begins with a thorough strip down of the machine and a forensic examination of the internal workings. The engineers will be aware of the particular quirks and foibles of any given table and instead of just replacing failed parts theyâll always go the extra mile, swapping out components which are likely to fail in the near future.
This particular example has had the cabinet artwork completely renewed, new playfield mirror rails installed and the lighting upgraded to super bright LEDâs as part of the extensive restoration process. Our aim is to ensure that our refurbished pinballs play just as well as the day they left the factory but when you take into account the cosmetic upgrades it can truthfully be claimed that a table refurbished to this standard is actually superior to the original machine.
Introduced by Stern in 2003 and with a production run of around 5000 units, Lord of The Rings has its own unique style and has won praise for the sophisticated coding which has made it such a terrific entertainer. Very fast and extremely rewarding, this table has one of the best multi-balls ever devised, whilst the various modes and the way certain shots open up add whole new levels to the overall experience.
If youâre skilful enough to destroy the ring, which requires great perseverance and the completion of multiple stages, then youâre in for a real treat!
Many of Sternâs key personnel worked on this landmark table, with contributions from George Gomez, Keith Johnson and Chris Granner on the design side of things and Jerry Vanderstelt and Kevin OâConnor on the artwork. Granner was also responsible for the sound and music. As youâd expect, there are plenty of toys and plenty of surprises, but one thing which wonât surprise you, given The Games room Companyâs track record, is how exhaustively this particular machine has been rebuilt and restored. Rare though many of these machines are, rarer still are the examples which have been properly refurbished or can truthfully be said to be in full working order. It goes without saying that when unrestored machines come up for sale online or at auction, theyâll often be priced rather lower than the machines sold by The Games Room Company, and the point we wish to get across above all others is that thereâs a reason for this. In this business The Games Room Companyâs reputation is second to none, and as itâs been hard won over the years itâs something we never take for granted. Every machine that goes off to a customer, be they corporate or private, is a potential advertisement for the business and if we didnât do our job properly then we wouldnât have the high number of loyal, returning customers that we do. Weâre justly proud of our One Year Parts and Labour Warranty, which extends to on-site visits so if your machine does require some attention, you wonât necessarily have to endure the pain of separation. The Games Room Company is one of the oldest pinball dealers in the country. Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, played his first pinball game in 1960, and described it without irony as being âflipping excellentâ. Weâve been selling pinball machines since 1962, so know a thing or two about our products! Our showroom will gladly assist you on any questions you may have before or after you purchase any Games Room Company equipment.
