Snooker Table by Thurston 12ft

This beautiful full-sized snooker table is crafted from dark mahogany and has a solid, traditional feel which simply exudes quality and class. Eight finely turned legs hold it at a regulation height from the ground whilst a ¾” slate playing surface and finest quality Hainsworth cloth ensure that the table is suitable for tournament level play.  Brass pocket mounts and hand stitched leather corner guards are to be expected on a table of this standard and she does not disappoint.

London based Thurston and Co Ltd are one of the most respected manufacturers of snooker tables in the history of the game. John Thurston (1777–1850) was an inventor who developed the use of slate beds and rubber cushions for snooker tables, and he was dubbed "the father of the billiards trade" In 1799 he founded a business to make billiard tables as well as general cabinet making and his company, Thurston & Co. Ltd, continues in business to this day.

Our experts have examined the table and whilst we can't be sure of its exact age, we can certainly vouch for its superb condition and overall build quality. It has clearly been meticulously maintained over the decades, and with the patina of age we would venture to say that she looks better now than she did in her youth. (And it's not often one can say that!)

This table is supplied with four club cues, two cross rests, a spider, long tackle, a triangle and cue rack. If you've always wanted to own a table and you've got the space but have concerns about how such a large piece can be installed then check out the video on our blog, where Alexander and Martin explain the art of assembling a full sized snooker table. It's quite an education, and leaves you in no doubt that it's something that should only be carried out by an expert!

Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, first learned to play snooker in Cairo, serving with the 8th Army during the Second World War. He was fond of confusing opponents by telling them they were ‘absolute snookers’, explaining that the term originally referred to an inexperienced army recruit, before it was applied to the game. This intriguing titbit was repeated so often that many of his colleagues eventually memorised his explanation word-for-word. We’ve been selling games tables since 1962, so we know a thing or two about our products! Our showroom will gladly assist you on any questions you may have before or after you purchase any Games Room Company equipment.
